Christmas 2012

Peter Marshall once said "Let us not spend Christmas... but let us keep Christmas in our hearts and in our lives."

Hey! Don't get me wrong I like presents as much as the next person.  But I'm so grateful that God came down to earth and was born as a man- living a perfect life despite all His trials. And I am eternally thankful that he Atoned for mine and everyone else's sins and broke the bonds of death so that we can return to live with Him again one day. I believe in Him. I believe in that baby lying in a manger. I believe in the man teaching the people in Galilee. I believe in He who died on the cross for me.
I believe in giving gifts at Christmas, to remind us of the ultimate gift that God has given us- His Son.

We tried to get a cute picture of the boys on Christmas Eve. Haha. Tried to. I think Robbie had just got done picking his nose.

The WHOLE month Jeddie has been begging for Santa and presents. I'm not kidding. So for him to finally get to open presents, it was a big deal to him.
The boys loved opening their presents from all our family. They got TONS of tractors, a construction set, and cute clothes! They got so many toys, we'll have to hide some of them and rotate them in and out throughout the year. We are so grateful for all our family that love our boys and got them gifts. We feel so blessed.

The poor boys have been too sick to really play with them yet though. The day after Christmas we all came down with the flu. One by one it's hit us. So far Harper is the only one who is not sick. The result has been calling in sick to work, dirty dishes, staying in pajamas, and a bunch of Doctor Who while the kids are napping.

This December we have been sick every single week. I'm not exaggerating. There has been a different virus every week that has passed through the Mele Manor. Sooo frustrating. I'm hoping the month of January is better in that regard.

We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. I'm excited for the New Year. A lot of good changes are going to happen this year! Some of my goals include getting more organized, clearing out clutter, and getting physically fit.  More details on that later.

Until next time!

Robbie's Birthday is TODAY!

Robbie's birthday is TODAY! Jeddie's mad it's not HIS birthday, so he said "Bye, Mom!"
 There he is, birthday boy!

I tried to get him to play with Perfectionate photo props today, but it was a no go.

Hey! Does this face and picture look familiar?

Robbie is such a good brother, he is trying to help Jeddie ride his tricycle in the rocks.

And then an airplane came. The sun was too bright, but they still tried to look and find it!

Robbie loves his sticks.

Then Jed starts looking for his monster truck... "Monster truck!? Where oo go?"

Beautiful birthday boy. You are so perfect. We love you so much. I love your bashfulness, how you love to cuddle. How you scream like a girl. You are mom's little buddy. Life wouldn't be complete without you!

Just two years ago you were a tiny little newborn...

Christmas Gnomes

We have adopted two Christmas gnomes. ahem.
Introducing Mrs. Gnaughty & Mr. Gnice.
They don't serve any particular purpose, since Santa outlawed garden gnomes eons ago. They just are cute. Silent silly friends. My mom showed me how to make them last night. I plan on making a few more. How adorable! I can't help but giggle everytime I see them. I need some giggling throughout my day.

On another note: this little dude turns 2 this Friday. And yes, we're still rockin' the binky.
He is learning how to talk more and more and is attempting to potty-train with Jeddie! He is becoming more independent- when I try to do something for him he hits my hand and says "nuh-uh!"

He also just learned how to hop with two feet! He has never been able to do it before and so now that he can he is hopping around the house as much as he can! It's so cute- he is so proud of himself.

He is a copy-cat and loves to do what his big brother Jeddie does.  Doesn't matter if it's falling off the couch. If Jeddie does it- he does it. Hahahahaha

Our little Chrimmus Tree (as Jeddie calls it) we still don't have a star to put up top, but I have something in mind. We're short on space in our little house, so the Christmas tree went into the playroom/piano room/computer room/supposed-to-be-a-dining-room.  HGTV would be ashamed. Do you ever have that feeling?
I hope your Christmas preparations are going well this season!

Such a good daddy: a bragging post

Hubby is such a good daddy. I love capturing moments like this: he is reading a book to Harper girl. Of course she is just as happy sitting in his lap, listening to his voice... I am sure she could care less about the book. Ha.
But it's so wonderful to me knowing that my best friend is such a good daddy to our little kiddos. Don't get me wrong- no one is perfect. And we all have our moments. Woo wee, me especially!
Here are some things big Jed has done lately to help me out:
Boys bath time
Holds Harper for me
Cooks dinner- really yummy dinner
Puts Harper to sleep
Takes me to Target (love that place!)
Tells me I'm beautiful
Puts up with my box-fettish
Rake the lawn

I just love him! He is perfect for me. Brag brag brag, wah wah wahhhh! *charlie brown teacher voice*

I hope you have someone special in your life that treats you like royalty. Even if its just a good friend- everyone needs someone. That theme becomes especially apparent this time of year.

Harper: 3 month summary

Hooray! Our Harper girl is healthy and a happy baby. She is 3 months old in just one week! She fits into all of her 3 month clothing now.  All these outfits are super cute on her!
I've typed up a development summary for Harper girl and need to keep it up so I can remember all of her little milestones! So, click Read More if you are interested, if not, just keep scrolling to look at pictures of our cute little family.

For Thanksgiving

For Thanksgiving this year we visited Jackson, MS. I was born there and most of my Dad's family is still there, so we went. Hubby stayed behind to work, so my sister Lauren drove me and the kids there and back. It was so nice to visit everyone.  We don't get to go there often.

My dad was really happy to see all of his kids together I'm sure! It's been 3 years since the last time all 5 siblings were together. He was really helpful and I'm grateful he encouraged and helped us go along on the trip.

I sat by Jeddie during the 5-6hr drive to Jackson and he did really well. There were a few hairy moments, but it was better than expected! All the kids did great.

We played Chicken Foot, a version of Dominoes like we did as kids. Other games played were Taboo, UNO, and Yahtzee. We used to play these games so often with family as kids. I'm glad to see some things don't change.

Thanksgiving was held at Jeff and Terry's house. Among their many pets was a hedgehog. It moved so fast it's hard to get a clear picture of him. But he is poky. and cute. And I'm not even sure he's a "he." They didn't know either. ha

I got to see Julia, my 14yr old cousin, again. She is so bright and beautiful and is very lively! I loved being around her again.  Do you think we look alike?

And here is another person look alike:
My sister Heidi and her hubby Jake got to meet Harper and Robbie for the first time! It was so sweet to see them interact with the kids.  Robbie really took to them both so well! They were so kind to them.

My Granny had never met any of her great grandchildren. She held Harper the first second she could and loved holding her every chance after that.

We got to visit with my great Uncle Gene and his wife. (Pictured above in the bottom right, blue shirt) We also got to visit with my great Aunt Eda (sp?) She is on the bottom left of the photograph. My grandad died when my dad was young (top right, white shirt), so I've never met him before. It's interesting to be around his siblings to see what he might have been like. They were both very nice and calming to be around. An interesting dynamic, those two.  They aren't nice to each other apparently- but I guess some sibling rivalry doesn't end even in old age. Ha

And I really can't end this post without saying such a big thank you to my older sister Lauren. I was really sweating wondering how I would make this trip work with just me and three kids and then she stepped up and helped me tremendously throughout the week. She really made this trip so enjoyable for me. I love you, Lauren. You are beautiful on both the inside and out and I'm so happy to share my family with you. You are a great Auntie to Jeddie, Robbie, and Harper girl.

Robbie: 23 month summary

He loves backpacks, hats, and shoes. He even has his blankie that he usually carries around with him in the morning time.

Happy Turkey Day!

I'm thankful that this Thanksgiving I got to be with my sisters. I couldn't ask for better ones.

The leaves are falling!

Robbie loves the leaves

And Jeddie loves the rocks

the book "Small and Simple Things"

In a sweet little book written by a sweet little old lady, Marjorie Pay Hinckley, wrote:

Elder Neal A. Maxwell once said, "We are here in mortality, and the only way to go is through; there isn't any around!" (Ensign, May 1998, 9). I would add, the only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache.

I share this quote because I tried to be mad. I tried to cry. It didn't work. I ending up smiling and laughing instead. Why? I'll tell you:

Sitting on the computer working my hiney off, waiting for the boys to actually fall asleep, I hear Robbie creep into Jeddie's room. Neither of them are asleep yet. I think "I'll let them play while I finish this file." Bad idea. A few minutes later the giggling escalates to laughter and so I think "okay, time to separate them." I walk down the hall and swing the door open and the door hasn't even finished opening before a poopy diaper lands right on my face, bounces off my shoulder- slides down my arm and lands right on my foot. Can you imagine!?
Here is what went through my brain at that moment:

AAAAHRRRHG!! Gross!! I can't believe it!? YUCKKKK!!!! UGH!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Nasty! LOOK WHAT IM COVERED IN! Gross These boys are in sooooo much trouble!!!! AAHHHH!H!HGHGGJG!AAAAHRRRHG!! Gross!! I can't believe it!? YUCKKKK!!!! UGH!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Nasty! LOOK WHAT IM COVERED IN! Gross These boys are in sooooo much trouble!!!! AAHHHH!H!HGHGGJG!AAAAHRRRHG!! Gross!! I can't believe it!? YUCKKKK!!!! UGH!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Nasty! LOOK WHAT IM COVERED IN! Gross These boys are in sooooo much trouble!!!! AAHHHH!H!HGHGGJG!

But here is what actually came out of my mouth:
Delirious laughter. hahaHAAHANAHA......

In her blessing gown

Harper's getting blessed this Sunday. I wanted to get some pictures of her in her blessing gown. She is so beautiful in it. It was so sweet to put it on her. I can't wait to put it on her again this Sunday when her daddy is going to bless her.

I love this little lady.
