Hello blog

Last night was the Relief Society Birthday Celebration. My mom worked so hard to make it special for everyone. She couldn't have done it without everyones help.  Thanks to everyone! You know who you are!!  We made little embroidered dishtowels to give to everyone that came.  I'll post pics of those when I can.  I'm stressed and have a lot on my plate. But one bite at a time, right? Man vs. Food- you know how to do it.

lil Jed likes to pick his nose. Haha just kidding.  He loves to stay in his pajamas. We're learning his clothing preferences for nap time. If he's not in his pajamas for nap, he ends up desperately trying to take his clothes off, making a BIG mess in the process.  I'm sure you can picture it. Footed pajamas are his favorite.   We're definitely still on the gluten, casein, milk, lactose, peanuts, etc free diet.  He pretty much eats rice, corn, vegetables, and fruit. Poor kid.  But if we didn't keep these foods out of his diet, he would be so much harder to handle! He actually can take a bath without screaming.  Little things like that make such a big difference.

Robbie got a hair cut!! NO!!! His hair was so cute, but it was getting too long. So it's gone now. I'll show pics soon. (pic shown was before haircut)  Speech therapy is coming along well! He is trying to learn banana (anana)! That makes 3 words he uses regularly!  His attitude has really shown today! He looks so sweet, but we call him our diva. If he doesn't get what he wants, he pitches a good fit. :) I thought he was teething 3 teeth, but he is teething 8, at once. Yes, you read that right. 8.  Can you imagine? I've NEVER heard of a child teething that many teeth at one time, have you?  No wonder he's been really touchy lately!

Hubby is out of a job right now. Its nice havin him home to help with the kiddos so I can work on blogs and websites but also a lil stressful.  Now all previous phonecalls/leads to jobs have come back No.  NO is a big word, so tiny- but a big impact.  But there are always new leads.  Right now he is applying for a desk job at a local college campus working with International Students.  Hopefully his language skills and degree will come in handy!

We're so excited that General Conference is tomorrow. We get to listen to the prophet, and apostles and our other church leaders to speak to us. I know that the Lord has prepared these men and women to give answers to our prayers. We'll be listening over the Internet. I can picture our boys running around and playing the whole time, but that's okay!

Brothers, best friends?

I hope these two grow up to be best friends! They probably will (that's the plan).  Right now they fight over toys and momma's lap- but then they hold hands and hug and kiss eachother too. Too cute for sure!! It cracks me up how Robbie's a lot shorter than Jeddie, I wonder if there will be a time when they are the same height.
I love them oober doober much.

Lately lil Jed has been trying to say "Yay, you/I did it!"  It is adorable and sounds like "Yaya deeditt"
This is an awesome improvement in his speech! He's never said that long of a sentence before.  Most of the time it's one or two syllable/word phrases, like "moe peas" (more please)
His absolute favorite word and toy is "Tractor!!!!!"  He pronounces like a pro, seeing how he says it 50 times a day.  3 a.m. he'll wake up and I hear him say "annanana tractor.... adandana tractor.... tractor... MOM!  TRACTOR!...... tractor?"  At the time it's kind of frustrating because I want him to be sleeping, but it sure is cute and makes me smile.  If he doesn't have a meltdown, he'll usually fall back asleep for another hour or two.  If he does have a meltdown and tantrum... he is up for a while.
It's adorable when Robbie wakes up because lil Jed gets so excited when he sees Robbie for the first time:  "ROBBIE!  ROBBIE!! oh Robbie Robbie Robbie....... play????"
He also says:
"Er a go er a go?" (Where did he/it go?)
"a train a choo train train"
"food food mom food"
"a b c e e ga k"  His alphabet song this morning
"didine" diamond
"oball" oval
"hot"  heart
"sucorl" circle
"sca"  square
"tisucorl" triangle
"sta"  star

He's great at pointing out shapes and his letters. In fact, he saw an easel at church leaning against the wall in the hallway the other day (it's like 5 foot tall) and he pointed to it and said "A!  A!" Big Jed and I looked at eachother and we both had the look of bewilderment on our faces. He is so smart!

Robbie now nods his head "Yes." Very helpful! I feel like I can actually communicate with him. I will ask him "Are you hungry?" And he says "sss"  and nods his head.  He is learning how to use a spoon, too!  This is about the age that Jeddie started using a spoon, I think.  He is rather good at it!
Robbie is teething a few teeth, and I think one just popped through. That would put him at 11 little chompers.  Don't accidentally leave your finger in his mouth too long when you are feeding him, he will bite it so hard!!!   Leaves a bruise every time. OUCH!

What we're up to:

Jed-  He's still on the job hunt. We're waiting to hear back for interviews.  Currently he's selling cars at a dealership.  It's not much- but it works for now.  He has been cracking me up lately because it will be bedtime- 8 or 9 at night and he'll start to bake a cake. At 9 at night! And I say" hun, that cake is going to take an hour." He doesn't care, he wants cake!

Madeline- I talked in church last Sunday on the topic of Agency.  It was a good reminder of the importance to choose the right! I've been keeping up with all the Mormon Messages videos lately and they lift my spirit every time. All the stories are so touching.  You should watch one if you have a few minutes. My toenails are green, ready for St. Patty's Day!

lil Jed- This little guy is full of energy. He makes me laugh multiple times a day- even when he's being naughty.  He continues to have diarrhea everyday and allergies to milk products. Due to other concerns we had about him, he was recently evaluated an occupational and speech therapist. Through the whole process we have been learning more about him and his needs.  He is being treated for a Sensory Processing Disorder. "Treatment" really just means changing his diet, adding more sensory stimulating and calming activities into his routine, and patience while we wait as he grows into this disorder.  Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD) is a spectrum disorder.  There are many different ways to have it. SPD specific to lil Jed is Tactile Defensiveness and Auditory Overresponsive.  This means that he is disturbed by light touch, and that he is overly sensitive to noises around him.   This turns rainy days, bath time, me cooking breakfast, having a fan on, wearing clothes, being around people, listening to music  all very difficult for him.   Some days are better than others, and keeping gluten out of his diet definitely helps him, both with behavior and his digestion.  We're blessed to have friends that have children with SPD that we can turn to when we have questions.
Lil Jed is a very smart little boy and learns most things quickly. He's great with patterns and colors, and can even recognize his alphabet now.  We're working on counting (he usually gets to 3) but I'm sure that will come with age.  He loves tractors, trains, trucks, and cars. (obsessed is a better description, lol!)
He has a slight speech delay, common to children his age.  But if it doesn't improve, he'll be re-evaluated when he's older.
We love him so much and are so lucky to have him in our family!

Robbie- This munchkin is definitely a momma's boy. He is on my hip as much as he can be! And of course, his favorite word is "Mom"  I wrote a song about Robbie:
Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O
And on that farm he had a Robbie, E-I-E-I-O
With a "MOM" here and a "MOM!!" there,
here a "Mom," there a "MOM", everwhere a "Mom, MOM"
Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O
Very original, don't you think?  But really, this describes him perfectly. (In the time it took me to write this post, he has said "mom" 12 times) He only says Mom and uh-uh now, so a speech therapist is going to work with him to see if we can get him saying more than just those two words.  He sure is a sweet cutie-pie, and his hair, as you can see in the pictures below, is still as blonde as ever!  I think his screaming phase is coming to an end.  He used to scream so high-pitched it would rattle your ear drums for minutes.  But that seems to be fading out of his list of favorite things to do. (Thank goodness!)

We love our boys so much, they are the treasure of our hearts!

Spring is coming!

The weather is so warm and lovely!  Grass is growing, flowers and trees are blooming... and birds are chirping (rather loudly, actually)
The sun feels good on our skin when we go outside and play.
Hey! Robbie stole my seat!

Yes! Success! Bahhamuwahaha

not for long...

Jeddie is 29 months. That's almost 2 1/2!
Robbie is 15 months.  That's crazy to think! I feel like Jeddie was just 15 months yesterday.
In fact, here is a pic of Jeddie at 15 months old:
They look so different! :)  Jeddie was tall compared to Robbie, and definitely not as chunky! Wow, what a coincidence... in these pictures, they are wearing the same red shirt! Just now noticed that!

These boys are such a joy!
