In her blessing gown

Harper's getting blessed this Sunday. I wanted to get some pictures of her in her blessing gown. She is so beautiful in it. It was so sweet to put it on her. I can't wait to put it on her again this Sunday when her daddy is going to bless her.

I love this little lady.

Hang up the phone

Some days I just want to "hang up the phone" so to speak on our gluten casein free diet that Jeddie is on. Especially times of the year like this. Where everyone is eating candy but Jeddie. Where everyone is getting enjoy things like candied apples and pumpkin pie. And he gets none. Zilch. He gets to collect the candy on Hallloween night but he doesn't get to eat it. How sad is that!?

Jeddie is on the gluten casein free diet for behavioral reasons. He just does better without those foods in his diet. But I'm tired of it. It's dang hard. And so I'm going to take a brave step and let him eat a peanut-butter sandwich for once. I'm going to let him eat a silly piece of candy. I think come time next week I will be greatly regretting this decision because of the meltdowns and bouts of hyper ness that will ensue- but for now we will just enjoy the sweet snickers bars and the suckers. I'm tired of seeing the puzzled look on his face when everyone else is oohing and aahhing enjoying their goodie treats and he is left out. Hurts my heart. Sensory Processing Disorder stinks. Big time.

But anyway. Look how cute they are in their costumes!!

post edit-**** Here I am, the very next day- contemplating probably putting him back on the GFCF diet. He is nuts today!!! Poor baby.

A great role model in my life

Some people are just great role models! I have many in my life that I look up to. My friend Emily and Mary are good at giving compliments and I want to be better at that. My friend Alli is so good at checking in on old friends no matter how long it has been since you last talked- I want to be like that too. My grandmother loves her family and stands by them in the good or the bad times that they go through and I need to be more like that. Another lovely role model in my life is my great Aunt Carol. She is both "great" and a generational great- meaning she is my grandmothers sister. This wonderful woman opens her home to everyone. She serves as much as she can. She has always encouraged me to pursue my talents in music and given me many opportunities to serve others by playing for them. She would take me to people that were in a rough time in their life that needed a few jolly Christmas carols. She would take me to church meetings where the spirit of The Lord felt thru music would be the perfect touch. She is a great mom to her five children and has helped raise many more children as a daycare director. Someday I wish to have her good qualities in me too! One day!

Cloth diapers! dun dun dun

So we started the cloth diaper journey with Harper this week. I prepped the diapers all weekend to get them ready for her little booty bright and early Monday morning! She is wearing the same ones that lil Jed and Robbie wore. Sweet? yes. Gross? no. They are clean! (and have lasted a while!) We are cloth diapering Harper because
1. it saves money
2. it saves money, oh I already listed that one
3. it keeps diapers out of the landfills, but mostly just because it saves money.

Ha. Can you tell where my priorities are right now?

Jed just had an interview for a job promotion. Jed's been working his hiney off and we've been praying for a promotion since April. We really want it to happen.  It's truly teaching me patience and the importance of faith.  Hubby and I do get discouraged from time to time- but we do have faith that it will work out how it's supposed to.  The following scriptures have really helped me these past months...

"But if we hope for that we see not, then do with patience wait for it." -Romans 8:25

"...what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." -Mark 11:24

"And Christ hath said: If ye will have faith in me ye shall have power to do whatsoever thing is expedient in me." -Moroni 7:33

Candus + Mikey wedding shower

My cousin Candus and her fiance Michael are getting married next weekend! So my grandmother threw her a sweet wedding shower. And of course my mom decorated! She always does a fantastic job.

I can't believe how adorable Harper is. She is just so perfect!

Jeddie holding Harper

The cutie

We have a bunch of cuties- but right now I want to post a few things about Harper.

She is starting to smile now! It feels like it's taken forever! But in reality, she has only taken 2 weeks longer than the boys to start smiling.  It's so hard not to compare the children with each other! Sometimes it's helpful, other times- it's just unnecessary. I'll try to be better about it!

Nursing and my Diet

She is a little more than a month old. She sleeps through the night still! (knock on wood) I can't take credit for this, she decided to do it on her own. Nursing is still going really well too.
Raising Harper has made a lot of things click for me about when I was raising lil Jed when he was her age. Harper is such a good baby- she hardly ever fusses. But when she does- I can link it to what I eat. She is very fussy (and I mean inconsolable crying) when I eat:
-any milk product

It's anywhere from 6-24 hours afterwards that the fussing starts. But when I don't eat those things- she's as happy as can be! The reason why it makes it click for little Jed is he was a very very fussy baby. Especially at night. And I just attributed it to the fact that he was a baby. Since he was our first, I didn't realize the fussiness could be because of my diet- what I ate. I ate and drank milk all the time when I was nursing him. I love it all- milk, icecream, yogurt, cake, butter, chocolate- you name it! And sure enough when we put him on formula, he couldn't handle the milk-based formula. He had to drink soy-based. And then fussiness- gone.

Priscilla Dunstan Baby Language

We are trying our best to listen to Harper's cries and pre-cries to figure out what her needs are during the day and night.  If you are like: What?  Watch this video:

Let me tell you! A big difference in confidence and the time it takes us to make Harper happy. We now know that she needs to burp- a LOT. Her most common cries in order, are for:
heh-discomfort (she wants her diaper changed)
eair- gas pain

The fact that newborns know what they want and their natural reflexes let you know what they want.... woah. I used to think that babies only cried when they were hungry. That might sound stupid- but that's all I knew.

Man- I wish I knew then what I know now. der.

No, not bananas, bandanas! Robbie kept thinking we were saying banana.
This is what Robbie looks like when we've had spaghetti for dinner. ha!

Jed's 3rd Birthday!

Jeddie loved his 3rd birthday party. He got to spend it with his friends and family and Spot the Dog!

We've been preparing Jeddie for his birthday all weekend. Even when he woke Sunday morning he was walking around the house repeating: "Guess What!? Bird day parry! THREE!! a cake, a yummy, and puppies, and trains." So when we walked up to my mom's front door and he saw the stickers on the window- he realized he had made it to the party!!

As a side note, how adorable is my mom's wax warmer?

Jeddie loves the birthday song now. He has been singing it all day long.

It was so precious to see Jeddie so excited for all of his presents. He was sooo happy to get his green tractor. He was jumping up and down for joy and couldn't wait for it to be opened. It brought tears to my eyes- I loved seeing his face light up and overcome with joy! After he had played with it for a few minutes- he stood up and exclaimed: "I love my tractor!" Seeing how he has never said that he loves anything yet {even me- when I say "I love you" to him, he just replies sweetly: "too!"}... I was pretty excited to hear that! We all think his speech is picking up fast!

Haha! These kids crack me up! Thanks to all those who came and made Jeddie's day so special!
